We’re pleased to announce that GW Law students may now scan document and books at no charge using any of the Xerox copy machines in the Law Library.  Scanned materials are sent to your GW Law email account as PDFs.

Before you scan, print out a SMARTicket from your GW Law portal.  Print it once, but reuse it as many times as you like.  If you lose it, just print another SMARTicket.  You’ll need the SMARTicket to begin any scanning job because it tells the copier the email address for sending the completed job.  Instructions on scanning are available on the portal and are posted near each Xerox machine.  Copies of the instructions are available at the circulation desk.  Charges for print copies still apply.

Persons scanning materials should be aware the copyright law of the United States (Title 17, U.S.C.) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material.  The person using the copying and scanning equipment in the Law School is liable for any infringement.
