Desolle. Procès contre Mme Rouanet le Sr. Jougrans la dame de Negries et le Sr. Vaganai porteur des lettres de change. [s.l.: s.n.], [ca. 1784]-1786.
A volume of 11 pamphlets regarding litigation between Marie Antoinette de Carrión, wife of Augustin Spinola (married 1784), and the second wife and children of her father, Henri François, Marquis de Murviel (1713-1779). This volume is bound in contemporary mottled calf with gold-tooled decorations on the spine, a gilt lettered green morocco label on the front cover, marbled page edges, and curl marbled endpapers. Annotations and marginalia in nineteenth century hand appear throughout the work.
While married to Henriette Madeleine de Crussol d’Uzes, Henri François had an affair with Marie Rouanet and had two children with her. Henriette Madeleine and her daughter, Marie Antoinette, eventually left and, following the death of Henriette Madeleine in 1775, the Marquis married Marie Rouanet in 1776 (without benefit of clergy). Marie Antoinette eventually began litigation regarding her rights to inherit her father’s estate.
This volume provides a record of the case from the beginning through the decision. Genealogy records of the family also exist which assist in clarifying relationships.
