October is one of my favorite months at the law library as it allows us to explore some of the stranger topics that the law covers.  From Zombies and the Law to the Salem Witch Trials, we have examined areas of law that get a bit less attention than Torts or Contracts.

October also gives us a chance to show off some of the spooky and macabre items in our special collections.  This month, on our social media platforms, we’ll highlight some of the more chilling items in our collection, from the inquest documents of the case that inspired All This and Heaven Too to the early modern European witch hunter’s guide Malleus Malificarum.

Follow along @gwlawlibrary on Facebook and Instagram to read about some spooky items, and learn about items like Assassinat de Mme la Duchesse de Praslin (1847), seen here.
