Banned Books Week brings together libraries, booksellers, publishers and others interested in the freedom to read and to share ideas, even those that may be unpopular. The theme for 2021 is “Books Unite Us, Censorship Divides Us.”
The Office of Intellectual Freedom (OIF) of the American Library Association maintains an annual list of the ten most challenged books in the United States to highlight those books being banned in libraries and schools. In 2020, OIF tracked 273 books that were challenged in libraries and schools.
